You were working long hours. Maybe your mind wasn't on what you were doing, or you got in over your head. But somehow you've committed the unthinkable—you've wrecked your own data and lost hours and hours of work!
Relax, there's still life after data loss.
We can't fix everything, but there are measures provided to protect your data that take place on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Whether you've corrupted your own data, deleted records or somehow trashed your web site, there are measures we can take.
Service Applications
If you are using one of Tom Ogden's service applications, you have the very best defense. Service applications are driven by databases, which are backed up every night. Even if you discover the error occured some time ago, we keep incremental backups of the database going back more than a year.
FTP Errors, Lost or Corrupted Files
If you are building or maintaining your own web site, you still have options. The system administrator makes comprehensive backups at least monthly and then makes incremental backups (changes only) during each week. These can be restored, but there is a charge to restore them. As of April, 2004, the charge was about $30 to restore all or part of a web site from server archives.
Tom Ogden also makes occasional backup archives of the server. These are not very frequent, but they are handy and can be restored quickly and free of charge. If you are in need of a restoration, ask if Tom Ogden has a backup you can use.
